Looking up to Gianni Versace as a role model has birthed a talented fashion designer, originally from Mpumalanga in Siyabuswa, Khulekani Fezile Gumbi.

His passion for fashion comes a long way and led him to commence with designing for his own fashion brand in 2017. Khulekani (22) “it was not easy at all without financial support, it is still not easy even now”. However, that did not stop Khulekani to do what he is good at.
The brand Votre Majeste has been into existence for 4 years now, even though the has been some challenges, such as finances, he was able to keep everything going. Khulekani would love to see his brand as a well-known brand nationally in the next five years and go internationally after it has deeply grounded in South Africa first.

Afterall, South Africa is where he was born, and it is crucial for him that the brand he started for himself and clothing’s that he designed with his own hands to be recognised in the mother land before other countries are to recognise it. The fact that he is always out of fashion also “sparked the idea of actually creating fashion for myself and I ended up starting my clothing brand”.
Khulekani is the man of many talents, besides focusing on his brand and designing clothes, he is a sales assistant in one of the well-known sportswear stores in South Africa, Totalsports. According to him, it is very simple to focus on being a fashion designer and branding, with being a sales assistant because both jobs are fashion oriented.
Now, his goal is to be able to bring out the best version of himself, and he needs both experience, which makes things easy for him to be able to handle. Khulenani’s target market is not a specific group of individuals, however, is for everyone who sees fashion beyond just clothes, “but the deeper concept of it” he explains.

Furthermore, it is also people who understand the craft and appearance all the finer details and people who can give an expression of themselves through fashion. Khulenani’s preferred colour of all time is black because it is bold enough to make “the melanin in my skin pop out more”.
Moreover, he is more into baggy clothes because of the comfortability that they have, and they suit any body type. “I prefer summer because it brings out the natural seduction, where people actually dress less and show more skin”.
